Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE — fill this in when you publish]

This policy explains what information Build a Footy Legend ("the game," "we," "us") collects when you play, and how it's used. We've tried to keep this genuinely short and readable rather than padded out with boilerplate.

What we collect

  • Email address — only if you choose to unlock ad-free. We use it solely to check whether you have an active ad-free purchase, so it can be recognised across your devices.
  • Gameplay data — the player card you build and, if you choose to save it, your leaderboard entry (the name you type in, your build's stats, and career results). We don't ask for or attach any other personal information to this.
  • Basic technical data collected automatically by our advertising partner (Google AdSense) for anyone who hasn't gone ad-free, such as cookies and device information used to show and measure ads.

We do not collect passwords, payment card details, or government ID. We never see or store your card number — that's handled entirely by Stripe.

How we use it

  • To verify and apply your ad-free status across the devices you use.
  • To display leaderboard entries you've chosen to submit.
  • To keep the game running smoothly and fix bugs.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use your email for marketing unless you separately ask us to contact you about something.

Third parties involved

  • Stripe processes all payments. Stripe's own privacy policy covers how they handle your payment details.
  • Supabase securely stores the minimum information needed to confirm your ad-free entitlement (your email and purchase status).
  • Google AdSense may use cookies to show ads and measure their performance for players who haven't gone ad-free. See Google's ad policy for details.

Cookies and local storage

The game uses your browser's local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember things like your ad-free status and in-progress build, so you don't lose progress on refresh. Google AdSense may separately use cookies as described above.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your email and entitlement status for as long as your ad-free purchase is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for support purposes. You can ask us to delete your data at any time — see the contact details below.

Children's privacy

This game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this section.

Template note: this is a plain-language starting point, not legal advice. Since you're processing real payments and personal data, it's worth having this reviewed by a lawyer once the game has real users — requirements vary depending on where your players are located (e.g. GDPR in the EU, Australian Privacy Principles in Australia).

Terms of Service
Last updated: [DATE — fill this in when you publish]

By playing Build a Footy Legend ("the game"), you agree to these terms. Please read them — the short version is: this is an unofficial fan-made game for fun, player ratings are made up for entertainment, and if you pay to go ad-free, here's exactly what that gets you.

Not affiliated with the AFL

This game is an independent, unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Australian Football League (AFL), the AFL Players' Association, or any AFL club. Player names appear for entertainment and commentary purposes. All attribute ratings, career simulations, and statistics in this game are original estimates created for gameplay — they are not official AFL or Champion Data statistics, and should not be relied on as factual claims about any real player's ability or performance.

Who can play

You should be at least 13 years old to use this game. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware before making any purchase.

Acceptable use

  • Don't use cheats, bots, or exploits to manipulate the leaderboard.
  • Don't submit offensive, abusive, or impersonating names to the leaderboard — we may remove entries that break this.
  • Don't attempt to disrupt the game or access data that isn't yours.

Ad-free purchases

  • Monthly ($2.99/month): automatically renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime and you'll keep ad-free access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • Forever ($5.99 one-time): a single payment that removes ads permanently on any device linked to your email, with no recurring charge.
  • See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund details.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

No warranty

The game, including its career simulation outcomes, is provided "as is" for entertainment. Results are randomly generated and are not a prediction, endorsement, or statement of fact about any real person. We make reasonable efforts to keep the game running but don't guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game. Your use of the game is at your own discretion.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Continuing to use the game after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: [DATE — fill this in when you publish]

Straightforward version: cancel the monthly plan anytime, and the one-time purchase comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee if you change your mind.

Monthly plan — $2.99/month

Cancel anytime

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time by emailing us (or via the Stripe customer portal link in your payment receipt email). Cancelling stops future billing — you'll keep ad-free access until the end of the period you've already paid for, but we don't provide partial refunds for the unused portion of the current month.

Forever plan — $5.99 one-time

14-day money-back guarantee

If you're not happy with your one-time purchase, email us within 14 days of payment and we'll refund it in full, no questions asked. After 14 days, the purchase is non-refundable, but it remains valid forever regardless.

How to request a refund or cancellation

Email nortonwebdesign@gmail.com with the email address you paid with and which plan you purchased. We aim to respond within a few business days, and approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

Billing issues

If you were charged incorrectly or charged after cancelling, contact us straight away at the email above and we'll sort it out.

Template note: this is a plain-language starting point, not legal advice. Refund obligations can vary by country/region (for example, Australian Consumer Law provides certain guarantees that can't be excluded) — worth a quick legal check once you have real customers.
